Himeji Castle: take the longer route via the Long Corridor (and the gardens)
Himeji's map shows a main-keep route and a longer one adding the West Bailey's Long Corridor. The long route is far less crowded and explains castle life better, and the gardens on the combined ticket were one traveller's favourite of the whole trip.
Check first: One traveller's experience (spring 2026); the free audio guide added little over the signs, she said.
